This extra springy and full hairstyle is called “Sausage Curls Galore”, featuring multiple tiers of great big round sausage curls, which bounce and swing with every movement, and soft sculpted bangs.
I experimented with different approaches to bangs and sausage curls in SL but, because of the alpha-sort bug, I found that it was best to stay away from any use of alpha in hair prims since their proximity to the skin (which itself contains alpha) would be sure to trigger the bug. I found that sculpted bangs are a good way to avoid the alpha bug while still creating organic detail and variation. The sausage curls are solid cylinders with no use of alpha, just carefully applied shading and highlights to create the illusion of detail and depth.
This hairstyle also includes 20 different colors in a single object through a click-menu, thus giving the wearer lots of color options without the usual inventory bloat. The various colors are all unique textures and not just an application of tint (although it is moddable so the user can add their own tint by hand if they like).
